For most elite gymnasts, after a year out of training and not an enormous amount of time back in the gym, it might be advisable to start slowly in competition and ease their way back to their full difficulty.

But Simone Biles does nothing by half measures. In her first major competition since the Olympics after a two-year absence, the 26-year-old marked her international return at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp with a staggering reminder of her greatness as she seeks her record-extending sixth world all-around title.
