US Powerball jackpot grows to world’s ninth-largest lottery prize at $1.04bn

Jackpot is fourth largest in Powerball history, with one in 292.1m odds, after 32 consecutive drawings without winner

An estimated $1.04bn Powerball jackpot will be up for grabs on Monday night, tempting players to spend a couple dollars on a long shot chance at instant riches.

The prize is the world's ninth-largest lottery prize behind earlier drawings of Powerball and Mega Millions, the other nearly nationwide lottery game. The jackpot is the fourth largest in the history of Powerball.
