What's a good distro for my tablets?

Nice forum! If you don't mind, I have a few dumb questions about my next project. I have two tablets I am planning to convert to Linux. I found some older forum posts about tablets, but they were verry old, so I hope I'm not too annoying asking again. My experience with linux includes several successful attempts to install it on something, but little actual use.

I've been doing some research and I'm leaning toward Gnome and/or KDE. I liked the Gnome classic desktop for desktop or laptop use, and Gmone Unity for tablet, and if I remember right, it was easy to switch between them. That was several years ago. Now I've read vague references to a tablet mode in KDE Plasma. I also like the sound of the KDE connect app.

The big one is a Dell XPS 9250, with a dual core isomething, 8gb RAM and Windows 10. It's fast enough, so I don't think speed is a concern, just tablet friendliness, but it claimed not to meet the CPU requirements for Windows 11, if that means anything here.

The little one is an hp Pro 608 G1, with a quad core atom ("Cherry Trail") and 4gb RAM. It came with Windows 11 installed. It's not fast. This is the tablet I'll be using most, so I want the best performance.

Any suggestions will be appriceated. Thank you!
