Cardinals' Conner placed on IR with knee injury

Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury, the team announced Tuesday.

Conner played just 21% of the team's offensive snaps in Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals because of the ailment. He finished the contest with six carries for 46 yards.

Conner will miss at least four games while on injured reserve.

Arizona is heading into back-to-back NFC West matchups: The team heads to Los Angeles to play the Rams in Week 6 and faces the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7.

Conner has had an excellent start to his 2023 campaign. The Pitt product has 364 rushing yards, a pair of touchdowns, and 30 receiving yards on eight receptions. His 72.8 rushing yards per game are the second-highest of his career (74.8 in 2018) despite missing the bulk of Week 5.

Emari Demercado, Keaontay Ingram, Tony Jones Jr., Corey Clement, and Damien Williams are the healthy running backs with the Cardinals organization.

Demarcado, an undrafted free agent, played 77% of the team's offensive snaps against the Bengals. The 24-year-old totaled 57 yards and a touchdown on 11 touches.
