eagle-7.7.0 on slackware-15 library mismatch
by Rod3775 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6FQ7E)
After not using CadSoft Eagle (from slackbuilds.org) for a few years, I needed to look at some old CAD files and discovered that it no longer works (library issue). The link to the "source" (actually precompiled binary) on slackbuilds is broken and yields a CadSoft page in German. I got the correct binary directly from the CadSoft website, but it failed for the same reason. HOWEVER, I have AlienBob's multilib package installed, and for whatever reason, the offending libraries are still in /lib (32 bit) from openssl10-solibs-compat32-1.0.2u-x86_64-1compat32. The corresponding 64 bit versions were lost in 2021 when the 64 bit openssl package was upgraded to 1.1
I picked up the 32 bit version of Eagle from CadSoft, built it with the SlackBuild from slackbuilds.org using ARCH=i686. I've made a personal copy of the 32 bit libssl.so.1.0.0 and libcrypto.so.1.0.0 files just in case they get deleted sometime. The 32 bit binary now works fine on my x86-64 machine, but if anyone has a link to the 64 bit version of these binaries I'd appreciate a post about it.
