Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton requires surgery for a dislocated wrist suffered in Week 7 and is expected to miss around two months, a source told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Bolton sustained the injury while tackling Los Angeles Chargers receiver Keenan Allen in the fourth quarter of Kansas City's win on Sunday.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said postgame that Bolton had a dislocated wrist.

Bolton missed three games this season with a high ankle sprain. The veteran returned for the Week 6 victory over the Denver Broncos and recorded an interception. He led the Chiefs in tackles despite leaving early against L.A.

Drue Tranquill will likely return to the starting lineup during Bolton's absence. Tranquill, an offseason free-agent signing, racked up 25 total tackles and one forced fumble while Bolton was out.

Kansas City's defense has made a significant leap this season. The unit ranks third in points allowed per game (15), seventh in sacks (22), and eighth in total yards allowed per game (294.6).
