The New York Giants aim to have quarterback Daniel Jones back from his neck injury for the Week 10 clash against the Dallas Cowboys, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Jones is unlikely to be available in Week 9 versus the Las Vegas Raiders as he has yet to be cleared for contact, Schefter adds.

While the 26-year-old's injury isn't believed to be season-ending, it must fully heal to avoid aggravating it upon his return, sources told Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

The quarterback's ailment has reportedly caused significant weakness in his left (non-throwing) arm.

Jones was injured in the Week 5 loss to the Miami Dolphins. He also missed the final six games of the 2021 campaign due to a neck ailment.

"It's a different injury," Jones said. "I think when you see other guys who have similar situations as mine, and they are able to progress and come back, I'm following a similar timeline to that. That is kind of the optimism, and yeah, it's a different injury than last time."

The 2019 first-round pick signed a four-year, $160-million deal this offseason to remain the team's franchise quarterback. He's struggled when healthy this season, throwing for 884 yards with two touchdowns and six interceptions in five starts.

Tyrod Taylor will get the call again Sunday for the Giants. The 34-year-old is 1-1 in two starts this campaign, throwing for 571 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
