New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor was taken to a hospital for further examination after suffering an injury to his rib cage in Sunday's 13-10 loss against the New York Jets, the team announced.

Taylor will remain hospitalized overnight for observation.

The veteran was hurt after taking a hit on a run from linebacker C.J. Mosley. Undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito stepped in at quarterback.

Taylor was starting his third straight game with Daniel Jones dealing with a neck injury.

Jones has yet to be cleared for contact but the Giants are reportedly eyeing a Week 10 return against the Dallas Cowboys for the signal-caller.

Taylor was struggling in the first half against the Jets, completing four of seven passes for just eight yards while adding 33 yards on the ground.

DeVito spent his first four seasons in college with Syracuse before switching to Illinois for his final campaign. He threw for 2,650 and 15 touchdowns against four interceptions during 13 appearances in 2022.

The Giants also lost tight end Darren Waller for the remainder of the Week 8 game to a hamstring injury.
