Landmark coronial inquest into deaths of four Aboriginal women reveals NT government rejected internal proposals for $180m to tackle domestic violence

The leading Indigenous academic Prof Marcia Langton has criticised the Northern Territory government for rejecting internal proposals for tens of millions of dollars in extra family violence funding, telling an inquest the decision is gobsmacking".

Appearing on Tuesday at a landmark coronial inquest held in Darwin into the deaths of four Aboriginal women at the hands of their domestic partners, Langton said research showed domestic violence had more than doubled over the past decade in the Northern Territory.
