Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones is content with where the team is through eight games.

"I'll take where we are right now," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan, according to Richie Whitt of Sports Illustrated. "And that's with a chance to get to the (Super Bowl)."

Dallas fell to 5-3 after a 28-23 Week 9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The defeat drops the Cowboys to 2.5 games back of the NFC East lead.

Down five points with under a minute left, Dallas drove down to the Eagles' 6-yard line with the chance to win the game. Quarterback Dak Prescott was sacked on first down, which put the team out of range to score a touchdown.

Two offensive drives before the Cowboys' final push, Prescott ran out of bounds on the two-point conversion, which was crucial to the overall outcome of the contest. If he was able to score, Dallas could've kicked a field goal on the final drive to tie the game.

"That was a disappointing deal," Jones said of the play. "Five minutes after the game, I was about as disappointed as you could imagine. It really hadn't dawned on me how close we were to winning that game."

Jones added: "I'd like to be there every time, with a chance to win with 30 seconds left," he said. "I'll take that, and we'll get most of them. Our tight end will get in there more times than not. And Dak will get it in there more times than not. I've never seen him step out of bounds, not once."

Dallas ranks in the top six in points scored per game and points per contest allowed. The Cowboys will play teams with a combined record of 7-19 over their next three games.
