Running Quicken 6 for DOS in Linux
by VP9KS from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6G7W1)
Many moons ago, my wife set up a bootable usb drive with Mint Cinnamon 17 on it. She set up a dos emulator on it, so that she could run Quicken 6 for dos. She had the capability to do backups to another USB thumb drive. I have no idea how she managed to do this, and she made no notes on how it was accomplished. Fast forward to yesterday, and while attempting a backup of the Quicken data, the thumb drive crashed and burned. Now, since I am retired, and apparently have nothing else to do, I have been tasked with replicating a dead system, with no notes or information as to which dos emulator she used or how it was done. What I do know is:
1 The thumb drive was running Mint Cinnamon 17.
2 there was a dos emulator icon on the mint desktop, which started
Quicken 6 when activated.
3 This dos emulator gave her the ability to backup her quicken 6 for
dos data to another USB thumb drive.
4 This system ran well from 2015 to 2023, then crashed with no
apparent warning.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, other than replacing her. I don't think that would fly!
