Proxmox Vm backup issue
by glennbtn from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6GCWV)
Hi.
We have a windows KVM that has a hard drive size of 1TB, running the Virtio hard drive driver. The size of the C drive on the vm it's self is usually around 400gb and the backups have been fine. A few weeks back someone added a load of large files on the server increasing the Windows storage to around 900gb full. This data was removed and we are back to around 400gb but the back is still around 900gb.
I understand the Discard option does not work with Virtio so I found and ran the command cipher /w:C to tray and Zero back the used space to reduce the backup but no joy.
Can anyone tell me how to get the backup down again to the size being currently used as 900gb is taking an age to backup and over running when the staff are back onsite.
Thanks
