Saints' Thomas placed on IR
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas has been placed on injured reserve with a knee injury, the club announced Tuesday.
The veteran wideout sustained the injury in the team's 27-19 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10. He'll miss at least four games on the reserve list.
The 2019 Offensive Player of the Year ranks third on the Saints in receiving yards (448) and receptions (39) this campaign. He's also scored one touchdown.
The 30-year-old has played in all 10 of New Orleans' games this season after playing in just 10 combined games over the previous three seasons due to various injuries.
Thomas and the Saints agreed to a reworked deal to keep him with the club for the 2023 season, but he'll likely become a free agent after this campaign. The deal contains four void years and will designate him as a post-June 1 cut at the start of the 2024 league year if he isn't extended, per Over the Cap.
Thomas' 565 career catches, 6,569 yards, and 36 touchdown receptions rank second, fourth, and seventh, respectively, in franchise history.
