Failing to create wifi access point / hotspot with TP Link Archer T6E AC1300 in a Fedora-based distro
by AaronPlays97 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6GN8E)
Hi all. I've been using Nobara 38 with KDE for a couple of months now and looking to switch to Linux completely. While I can find my way around in the system, I'm fairly new to Linux and not aware of everything, so all details and explanations will be appreciated.
I have a TP Link Archer T6E AC1300 wifi card running with broadcom-wl driver. I can connect to my router and hotspots from my phones, internet is working fine, but it can't create any access point or hotspot. I'm mostly using the Hotspot button in the Network menu of the System Tray, but I can tell that it's the same situation when creating hotspot using CLI or manually creating access point in KDE. I get the message "Authorisation supplicant timed out" a short while after clicking on the button. Here is the screenshot.
I installed the broadcom-wl driver after I looked up the output below for the Code:lspci -nnk | grep 14e4 command--
Code:04:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter [14e4:43a0] (rev 03)
Subsystem: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries Device [14e4:0619]I tried checking the errors using the Code:journalctl -f command, but every message/error I look up from the logs, I get results about Raspberry Pi and Cisco stuff. Here is the logs file.
I also tried creating hotspot using Hostapd and linux-wifi-hotspot, but they both failed too. I tried restarting wpa_supplicant and NetworkManager multiple times, no change. I saw in multiple forums that another Broadcom driver named b43 is preinstalled in Linux, but obviously that driver didn't work, because wifi card wasn't even detected after a fresh install.
At this point, I have no idea what else I can do. Any help regarding this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
