i recovered files from a damaged booting usb drive and want to make a new usb bootable

Hello,
I had a usb drive in a pc to extract files from it and I left it and when I came back to it, the pc rebooted and it caused the boot sector of the drive to be damaged. I was unable to use the magic number to repair it, so I extracted all the files from it to a folder. The drive is not recognizable to any system, but the files are good. I want to re-create what I had. It is a linux distro and the purpose was to run virtualbox as a portable self booting usb drive. How can I write the files back to a usb drive and make it bootable again?
