telnet port 25 authentication with Exchange
by mfoley from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6H0KB)
I'm trying to verify I can get to my Exchange account from my Linux host. I'm following a telnet script to attempt to connect to an Exchange account, but getting stopped:
Code:$ telnet cwa4502-org.mail.protection.outlook.com 25
Trying 104.47.73.138...
Connected to cwa4502-org.mail.protection.outlook.com.
Escape character is '^]'.

This link was almost helpful: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/...to-send-a-mail. The poster said he resolved this same problem by enabling STARTTLS, and declaring the authentication will be sent in plain text. Unfortunately, he didn't say how he accomplished either setting.
