make chromium load pages in background

When I middle-click on a web link, chromium opens it in a new unfocused tab. After a few seconds I switch to this tab expecting to see a loaded page, but it just starts loading as I look and I have to wait - annoying. Page visibility API is disabled with this addon https://chromewebstore.google.com/de...pihgefmlnenofb but it is not helping any more. I also turned off the recently added memory saver - no effect. Is it the fricking manifest v3 again? Can anything be done?
