The Philadelphia Eagles are making a change to their defensive process amid struggles on that side of the ball.

Senior assistant Matt Patricia will now call the defensive plays from the sideline instead of defensive coordinator Sean Desai, the team announced Sunday.

Desai will move to the coaching as a part of the switch, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Patricia has previously acted as the New England Patriots' defensive coordinator and the Detroit Lions' head coach, among other roles in the NFL.

Philly ranks 23rd in total yards surrendered per contest (353.9) and 28th in points allowed per game (24.7) entering Sunday. The team ranked second and eighth last year, respectively, with now-Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon as the team's defensive coordinator.

The Eagles have given up an average of 37.5 points per game over their last two games in losses to the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. They will face a Seattle Seahawks squad that's averaging 324.9 yards and 21.5 points per contest Monday night.
