Researchers with the Argonne National Lab and the University of Washington report strain-switchable, field-induced superconductivity in a synthetic material. Doped EuFe2As2 (a sandwich of Europium and Iron Arsenide layers with a sprinkle of Cobalt) provides a look into the moment superconductivity is switched on.
