New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson will miss Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders due to a concussion, head coach Robert Saleh announced Friday.

Trevor Siemian will get the Week 16 start with Brett Rypien backing him up, Saleh added, per ESPN's Rich Cimini.

Aaron Rodgers will not serve as the emergency third-string quarterback. Rodgers was activated off injured reserve earlier this week, but Saleh confirmed he will not play. The veteran quarterback revealed Tuesday that he's not 100% yet as he aggressively attempts an unprecedented return from a torn Achilles suffered in Week 1.

Wilson, who suffered the concussion during last week's game against the Miami Dolphins, has made 11 starts since Rodgers' injury, going 4-7 in those contests. He put together his best performance of the year in a Week 14 victory over the Houston Texans, completing 75% of his passes for two touchdowns and no interceptions while earning a 117.9 passer rating.

The 5-9 Jets were eliminated from playoff contention last Sunday.
