It's one of the best days of the year for book nerds: Stuff Your Kindle Day. All day today, you can get as many free e-books as you want. (If you're an Amazon Prime member, you might as well claim your free monthly e-books while you're at it too.)

Here is everything you need to know about this event, which happens only a few times a year.

What is Stuff Your Kindle Day?

Stuff Your Kindle Day is an author-organized event that happens four times a year. During Stuff Your Kindle Day, ebook readers can download a ton of books-mainly romance and romance-adjacent books-for free, keep them forever. The event first started in 2014 when author Zoe York wanted to promote her books as well as some other authors on her website, Romance Bookworms. It has grown exponentially since then; today, you can choose from over 1,000 titles in different romance and romance-adjacent genres to read on a variety of e-readers (not just the Kindle, as the name would suggest).

How to get free e-books on Stuff Your Kindle Day

The list of e-books that will be free during the event is already out, and the books will remain free until the event ends. Stuff Your Kindle Day only lasts 24 hours, so make sure to know what you want to get and how to get it. There are two ways to see all of the e-books available: through the official Romance Bookworms website and on Amazon itself.

Using the Romance Bookworms website, go to the free books" tab, then select the type of e-book retailer you use (if you don't use a specific e-reader and prefer to read via an smartphone app, you can click on any of them). You'll be presented with a long list of titles filtered by category. Each book will have the title, author, a brief synopsis, and hyperlinks to the retailer you selected.

Here are some of the categories available:

People who choose Amazon as their retailer can also see all of the available books with book covers on the Amazon Stuff Your Kindle landing page. (Make sure to click "All Results" at the bottom of the page to expand the list.)

If you chose Amazon as your retailer, make sure you're not being redirected to the phone application because you won't see the free book option; instead, use the web browser Amazon page (or just do it on your computer). Also, make sure you're not clicking the Kindle Unlimited "read for free" button, as that will direct you to start a Kindle Unlimited subscription; instead, click the buy now for free" button to send the book directly to the Kindle linked to your account.

You'll know you did it right when you see a Thanks, [your name]!" order summary saying the e-book is being auto-delivered to the Kindle Cloud Reader. Click the Read now in Kindle Cloud Reader" button on the order summary to start reading your e-book.

If you're overwhelmed by the sheer amount of e-books to choose from, there are a lot of TikTokers making curated videos of their recommended reads.
