No sound in fresh installed linux mint

i have installed linux mint and there is only dummy output have tried several things nothing worked.
In alsamixer s/pdif 0,1,2,3,4,5,6 are present at 00 and they are not moving(i am new)
card:HDA Intel PCH
is written in alsamixer
plz help
