How to totally clean a ThinkCentre M910q computer running UBUNTU of corrupted WSJT-X and Hamlib SW

Hello everyone !

I have been using a ThinkCentre M910q running UBUNTU software (Debian version stuff).

Initially, the computer came loaded with the UBUNTU OS and a program called "wsprdaemon" that controls a kiwi-SDR. This is working flawlessly.

I later installed WSJT-X (v2.5.4) and PUTTY software to access and control a QRP-Labs "QDX" tranceiver.

Whoopy! The new SW worked and I was able to run WSJT-X in FST4W-120 mode TXing 100% for an ionospheric study during the recent
lunar-eclipse.

Then, after running for a month, WSJT-X software could no longer control the QDX.

I accessed WSJT-X

menu===>files===>settings===>audio===>output and found

it was no longer possible to select the needed 'output' to get
audio to the QDX. The selection 'options' were identical to the "input" port selections.

At this point I tried removing the old SW and installing WSJT-X v2.6.1 .The final result was the same as the initial install, v2.5.4.

Arggh! Getting nowhere.

I removed the original Hamlib SW and installed the newest version (hamlib-4.6~git-20231222-cc81d7ecc.tar.gt shows up when I cmd-line enter 'ls").

This is so messed-up I need to remove ALL hints/presence of WSJT-X and Hamlib WITHOUT disturbing the 'wsprdaemon' SW that continues to run successfully.

Some baby-step instructions of how to:
- remove WSJT-X that may be hiding somewhere
- remove hamlib that may be hiding somewhere

AND then:
- install WSJT-X v2.6.1 (or later) and
- install hamlib v4.6 or later.

Someone mentioned an install that automatically updated everything when changes are made - that would be an outstanding
achievement!

Serious help is needed here and will be really appreciated!!!
Close to 50-hours of reading/trying various poorly-understood
suggestions 'cmd-line instructions' with no success.
