KDE hangs on login after upgrade to Slackware 15.0

I've recently upgraded to Slackware 15.0 on one of my computers. In init level 4, I get a login screen, as usual, but it's not working right. First off, the "default" login id comes up as SYSADMIN. That's odd because there is no SYSADMIN user in /etc/passwd. When I change to an actual user, enter the password and click the login arrow, the user name and password fields dim, but nothing else happens. The page is just hung. I have to hit CTRL-ALT-F1 and get to a prompt and init 3 to get out of that.

What is going wrong here?
