I have been using both GNU/Linux and other FOSS software and operating systems for the lion's share of what will be the last 23 + years. My route of entry to the Linux world came by way of diving directly into setting up a little file and print server for my family's in-house network via the use of a very early version of pre-IBM takeover RedHat Linux which was rebranded as Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
After that, I reverse-traced back to the client side and dove feet-first into Debian as I wanted the "True OpenSource" experience but that later backfired on me miserably as I had to deal with the repetitive learning process of learning how to use the bc43-fwcutter package to get those painful frigging Broadcom chipset based wired and wireless
