Senators' Forsberg helped off in loss to Sabres with groin injury

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg had to be helped off the ice after making a save during the first period of Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

He was ruled out for the night due to a groin injury, and head coach Jacques Martin told TSN 1200 the goaltender will undergo an MRI on Friday to determine the severity.

Joonas Korpisalo entered the game in relief and allowed two goals on three shots before the first intermission, and finished the night with 21 saves.

Forsberg sustained MCL tears in both knees last February, forcing him to miss much of the 2022-23 season.

The 31-year-old entered Thursday's game with a 7-8-1 record and an .889 save percentage. This is his fourth season with the Senators after stints with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, and Carolina Hurricanes.
