Problems with updates...

Dear Forum:

I am very concerned that I suffer performance issues when I allow all updates to be put into place. Sometimes my system does things quickly, and at other times things happen very slowly.

I always allow Linux kernel updates.

Details of my current system:

System: Kernel: 5.4.0-169-generic x86_64 bits:
Desktop: Xfce 4.14.2
LightDM Distro: Linux Mint 20.1 Ulyssa base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal
Machine: Type: Desktop Mobo: ASUSTeK model: P5G41T-M LX PLUS v: Rev X.0x serial: <filter>
BIOS: American Megatrends v: 0502 date: 10/21/2011
CPU: Topology: Dual Core model: Pentium E6600 bits: 64 type: MCP
arch: Penryn rev: A L2 cache: 2048 KiB
Hard Drive: WD2500BEVS-00UST0 size: 232.89 GiB serial: <filter>

Do I need to buy a newer computer, with faster boards, et cetera?

Please advise.

Thank you.
