UCLA head coach Chip Kelly is a potential candidate for the Washington Commanders' vacant offensive coordinator position, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

The 60-year-old Kelly is believed to have an interest in making an NFL return after spending the past six seasons with the Bruins.

Kelly had at least two interviews with the Las Vegas Raiders for their OC position, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. However, Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce reportedly hired Kliff Kingsbury instead.

Kelly possesses experience at the pro level after head coaching stints with the Philadelphia Eagles (2013-2015) and San Francisco 49ers (2016).

Known for his up-tempo offense, Kelly has led UCLA to a 35-34 mark since joining the program prior to the 2018 season. The Bruins have posted winning seasons the past three years, including an 8-5 mark in 2023 and a 35-22 victory over Boise State in the L.A. Bowl. UCLA is set to move to the Big Ten later this summer.

Kelly has struggled to recapture the success he had with Oregon from 2009-2012, where he led the Ducks to a BCS Championship Game appearance in 2010.
