a (easy) way to "upgrade" only SSL/certs of old linux distro?

hello
i have been asked to update few computers whom are not enough recent to run recent linux.. however, it's slitaz 3, slitaz5, also fedora 17 and lower : OS works well, but almost all ssl connection fails.
i guess it's related to ssl, certificates or tls (1.0/1.1 are dead), how could be tls v1.2 activated easily by a distro-independent script?
eg i discovered that fedora doesnt even have a ca-cert update...
for those linuxes whom can't be upgraded (because of hw accessories eg)
thank you!
