Cornerback Charvarius Ward has a clear preference when comparing his current team, the San Francisco 49ers, to his former squad, the Kansas City Chiefs, ahead of their Super Bowl LVIII matchup.

"It's better over here," Ward said when asked about the difference between the two clubs, per Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports.

When asked in what way playing for the 49ers is better, Ward replied, "In every way possible."

The Dallas Cowboys traded Ward to the Chiefs in 2018 after signing him as an undrafted free agent. He became a full-time starter the following year after an impressive end to his rookie campaign with Kansas City.

Ward suited up for the Chiefs in their victory over the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. He finished the contest with three tackles while playing 98% of the defensive snaps.

The 27-year-old played two more seasons with the Chiefs before signing a three-year, $42-million deal with the 49ers in 2022. He's started all 34 games with San Francisco in his two years with the club and has blossomed into one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Ward led the league in passes defended this year with 23.

Ward expressed confidence that the 49ers can defeat his former team on Sunday.

"I know we've got a great team," Ward said, according to Jerry McDonald of The Mercury News. "Everybody expected us to be in the Super Bowl. When I was in Kansas City, and we won (against the 49ers), we just knew we were going to win the Super Bowl. That's how this team feels this year."

The Middle Tennessee product has 381 tackles and 10 interceptions in 90 career games.
