Mint 21.3 Mate Display Goes Into Sleep Despite Power Mgmt. Settings

I installed Mint 21.3 Mate on my system: Dell OptiPlex 755. An issue I'm having is my display goes to sleep every few minutes from inactivity. I've tried configuring the Power Management Settings from 'Never' to different times but all to no avail. After few days of this it's driving me crazy. I don't know why everyone says Linux is superior to Windows when Mint (which to my understanding is one of the most polished distros) can't even make something as simple as screen saver work properly. Windows has its faults but something as basic as this always works and if not a patch is fixed quickly. This issue I'm having appears to be several years old dating back as far as version 19. Btw, I've checked those posts and it appears no solution has been found. Anyone please help.
