Customizing Liveslak

I am trying to change a few things with my custom copy of liveslak.

* Change the default time zone.
* Change the default keymap and retain my own copy of rc.keymap.
* Configure the right Alt key to be the same as the left (a plain Alt key).
* Shorten the long delay when first booting.

To create an initial usb disk I used the iso2usb.sh script and the 15.0 liveslak ISO. Using KDE, through several sessions I slowly tweaked the system to something close to my desktop configuration.

Reading the wiki indicates the liveslak "init script" controls the keymap and time zone. I do not know how to modify that script.

The wiki mentions /liveslak/slackware_os.cfg. I created the file manually on the usb stick. The file does not seem to do anything. The right Alt key is always modified by /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/30-keyboard.conf.

I can modify the time zone with the boot menu, but not the keymap or right Alt key. Deleting the respective options in the grub boot menu does not help.

Another file always recreated is /etc/vconsole.conf.

Changes to these files during the live session are not persistent. Outside of these exceptions persistence seems to work as expected.

When mounting the usb stick outside the live environment, changes to these files in the persistence directory are ignored and overwritten when launching the live session.

I am able to update the stick with the latest patches.

I am aware there are additional scripts but I do not know if they might help.

I appreciate guidance. I'm just not l33t enough to figure this out.

Thanks.
