jpg and avi exif question
by Mantra from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6K0W4)
Not sure this is really a Linux software question, but I wasn't sure where to put it.
I'm in the middle of a tidy up of files, and found a load of duplicate photos (with a few videos). I was going to delete them, but first I ran diff -r on the folders just to check.
About half the files are different - yet, the file sizes are identical, and they look the same. I'm pretty sure the actual image data hasn't been modified.
Right clicking (in Thunar) and going to the image tab, shows that the original copy keeps all the exif info (camera type, etc), but the modified copies don't show any data. Yet, the file size is identical for all of them, so the data is still there.
The other half of the files in the folder are showing as identical with diff.
Any clues? I'm baffled!
