Bourne staying with Pats on 3-year deal worth up to $33M
The New England Patriots agreed to terms on a three-year deal to re-sign wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, his agents told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The agreement has a base value of $19.5 million and carries a maximum value of $33 million, a source told The Boston Herald's Andrew Callahan. It also reportedly includes a $4.2-million signing bonus.
Bourne was set to become an unrestricted free agent.
The 27-year-old wideout recorded 37 catches, 406 yards, and four touchdowns across eight games in 2023 before he suffered a season-ending knee injury.
Bourne provided an immediate impact on the Patriots' receiving corps after signing with them in 2021, finishing second on the team with 55 receptions for 800 yards while adding five scores. The versatile receiver will headline a wideout group that includes JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, and DeMario Douglas.
The former undrafted free agent began his career with the San Francisco 49ers. Bourne eventually evolved into a productive target during his four seasons (2017-2020) in Kyle Shanahan's offensive system.
New England has wasted little time in reshaping its roster under new head coach Jerod Mayo. The Patriots reportedly traded former starting quarterback Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier Sunday. They also re-signed tight end Hunter Henry prior to the start of free agency.
