Report: Raiders adding QB Minshew on 2-year, $25M deal
The Las Vegas Raiders agreed to terms with Gardner Minshew on a two-year contract on Monday, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The deal is worth $25 million and includes $15 million in fully guaranteed money, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Minshew began the 2023 season as the Indianapolis Colts' backup behind Anthony Richardson but took over as QB1 after Richardson went down with a season-ending injury in Week 5. Minshew finished the campaign with a 62.2% completion rate to go along with 3,305 yards and 15 touchdowns against nine interceptions. He went 7-6 as a starter.
The Raiders also considered trading for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields before signing Minshew, according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic.
Las Vegas struggled at quarterback while starting three different signal-callers in 2023: Jimmy Garoppolo, Aidan O'Connell, and Brian Hoyer.
Las Vegas, which named Tom Telesco its new general manager this offseason, could still draft a quarterback this year. The team currently owns the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
