The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are trading cornerback Carlton Davis to the Detroit Lions, reports Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

The Bucs will reportedly receive a third-round pick in exchange for Davis, a sixth-round selection, and a 2025 sixth-rounder. Detroit owns two third-round selections in this year's draft and will send the latter (92nd overall) to Tampa Bay as part of the deal.

A second-round pick in 2018, Davis has spent his entire NFL career with the Buccaneers. The 27-year-old has a base salary of $14 million in 2024 and is entering the last year of his contract.

Davis brings experience to a Detroit secondary that entered this offseason looking for help at cornerback. The Auburn product has lacked consistency in recent years but will be one of the Lions' main corners in 2024. The team also rosters Cameron Sutton and Emmanuel Moseley, among others.

Davis, who helped the Buccaneers win Super Bowl LV, allowed a 96.1 passer rating when targeted in 2023, up from 82.8 in 2022. He averaged 54 tackles, 12 pass breakups, and 1.5 interceptions in 12 games per season with Tampa Bay. Davis has yet to play a full season in the NFL due to injuries.
