The Dallas Cowboys are releasing wide receiver Michael Gallup and linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, the team announced on Friday.

Dallas is cutting Vander Esch with a failed physical designation.

Gallup was a contributor on offense for the Cowboys over the past six seasons. The 28-year-old wideout hauled in 3,744 yards and 21 touchdowns on 266 catches during his tenure in Dallas.

The Cowboys save $9.5 milllion in cap space by moving on from the veteran pass-catcher after he was designated as a post-June 1 cut, per Over the Cap. The team will create $2.1 million in cap room by moving on from Vander Esch.

Vander Esch, 28, also spent six seasons in Dallas after being selected in the first round of the 2018 draft. The former Boise State star flourished in his rookie year, racking up 140 tackles and two interceptions on his way to being named a Pro Bowler.

Injuries have plagued Vander Esch's career over the past few seasons. He sustained a neck injury during a game against the San Francisco 49ers last October that ultimately ended his 2023 campaign.

The Idaho native recorded 469 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and three interceptions during his tenure with the Cowboys.
