Eagles acquire Pickett from Steelers
The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired quarterback Kenny Pickett in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team announced Saturday.
Pittsburgh will receive pick No. 98 and two 2025 seventh-rounders, while the Eagles will get Pickett and No. 120, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The Steelers decided to move Pickett after he poorly handled the arrival of veteran Russell Wilson, sources told Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Wilson officially signed earlier Friday.
Pickett has struggled to deliver above-average numbers since being drafted with the No. 20 pick in 2022. He owns a 14-10 record, 4,474 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions through 24 career starts. He was benched last season following a Week 13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
The 25-year-old is now expected to back up Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia. The Eagles also have 2023 sixth-rounder Tanner McKee under contract.
