Saints sign Young to 1-year deal worth reported $13M
The New Orleans Saints signed defensive end Chase Young to a one-year contract, the team announced Monday.
The deal is fully guaranteed and worth $13 million, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Washington Commanders traded Young to the San Francisco 49ers during the 2023 campaign. The 24-year-old finished the season with a combined 7.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, and 15 quarterback hits.
The 2020 No. 2 overall pick started his NFL career by earning a Pro Bowl nod and Defensive Rookie of the Year but has struggled to stay healthy and produce since. Young played just 12 games across 2021 and 2022 before appearing in 16 contests last season.
Young joins a pass-rushing group that features Cameron Jordan and Carl Granderson, among others. Granderson led New Orleans with 8.5 quarterback takedowns in 2023. However, the Saints struggled to consistently disrupt opposing signal-callers, finishing 29th in the league with 34 sacks.
