Ohio woman gets life in prison after toddler starved at home while she was on vacation

Kristel Candelario received sentence after pleading guilty to aggravated murder and child endangerment in death of daughter

An Ohio woman who embarked on a 10-day vacation while leaving her 16-month-old daughter behind at their home to starve to death has been ordered to spend the rest of her life in prison.

Kristel Candelario, 32, received her sentence on Monday in a state courthouse in Cleveland after having previously pleaded guilty to one charge each of aggravated murder and child endangerment in the death of her daughter Jailyn.
