Kansas City man charged with stealing $46K in equipment from Dolphins

A Kansas City, Missouri, man is facing a felony charge after allegedly stealing more than $46,000 worth of equipment from the Miami Dolphins in January.

Police met with a Dolphins representative on Jan. 14, a day after Miami's wild-card round loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, and were informed that a box truck holding team gear and equipment had been broken into and items were missing, WDAF-TV's Brian Dulle reports.

The stolen goods included football pads, gloves, shoes, game film, and other miscellaneous items, according to Dulle, citing court documents.

Detectives used surveillance video to identify the suspect's vehicle, per court documents, and later found the car containing equipment boxes in the bed matching the description given to them by the Dolphins.

Police charged Joseph Brown Sr. with a class C felony for stealing on Wednesday. He's facing a $50,000 cash bond.
