Virtual Box Doesn't Work

I have installed virtualbox on a fully updated Slackware 15 system. I used the install script from the virtualbox website. Every time I try to boot up my newly created virtual OS it errors out. Apparently the kernel is not running and won't run. Also, I am unable to install the additions package. Something about root not owning /opt. I tried to installed by logging into root but no dice. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
