Researchers create Goldene — a single atomic layer of gold with semiconductor properties

Researchers from Linkoping University claim to be the first to have successfully created sheets of gold composed of just a single atomic layer. Goldene has arrived, and just like the much-heralded 2D wonder material Graphene it is said to deliver some highly attractive properties.
