Kernel breaks sound on Dell

I have an XPS 9710 and have run multiple distros on it without a problem the past 3 or so years. It seems that suddenly there is no sound even if the tiger lake audio processor is detected and even appears (on dB meter activity)to be producing sound. The speakers are completely dead.I tried the usual distros (Debian, Arch Fedora) and all have no sound. I am dual-booting with windows 11 which does have sound so it's obviously not hardware related.I have read about this dual-boot setup causing sound distortion or absence and tried the suggestions without luck.It seems that it's driver related or more likely recent kernel updates.I've installed on an NvMe drive with no previous Windows install on it and still no sound. To complicate things further is when I restore an old backup I get no sound even with an older kernel that worked before. Any help would be much appreciated.I do not like Windows and only use it for a few programs I need. I have searched everywhere and can't seem to find anything.

Thanks!
