Edelman: Belichick-Kraft tension at Brady roast 'could cut f-----g glass'

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman admits there was some tension between Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft during their reunion at Sunday's "The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady."

On the latest episode of his "Games with Names" podcast, Edelman and guest Drew Bledsoe recalled an awkward moment that took place after Kraft walked into the green room as they were having a conversation with Belichick prior to the show.

Bledsoe said the Patriots owner and former head coach spoke for at least 10 minutes, but Edelman added that there was noticeable tension between the two.

"The tension in that room, though, could cut f-----g glass," Edelman said. "I was watching Coach, and I tried to give Coach a heads up. I see Kraft walk in, I'm like, 'Yo, Coach.' You know, like some locker room shit, '5-0, 5-0.' Of course (Belichick) didn't f---ing see it, and (Kraft) came in and I was like, 'Oh shit, this is gonna be some fireworks.' I just walked away, I didn't wanna get in there."

Belichick and Kraft briefly shared the stage at the Netflix live comedy event, taking a shot together at the encouragement of host Kevin Hart.

A report from ESPN last month claimed Kraft cautioned Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank against hiring Belichick for their head coaching vacancy earlier this year, though a spokesperson for Kraft denied he said anything negative about Belichick to Blank.

Belichick and the Patriots parted ways in January after 24 seasons and six Super Bowl championships.
