Solus 4.5 trying to install brother multi function printer MFC7460DN.

Thanks in advance for any help given.
I am returning to linuxquestions.org after a long absence. I installed Solus 4.5 on my desktop originally
as replacement OS for Windows 10. But I find I want to keep this linux OS and 'work thru the kinks' as it were.
My current problem is that I believe I have gone through the installation of my Brother MFC7460DN. I found drivers for linux on the brother website and managed to install via dpkg (not too successful with the eopkg package manager that is default in solus 4.5). CUPS is installed and active and can goto port 631 and install and configure. However, there seem to be missing files in CUPS - no cupsd.conf at /etc/cups. In every instance that I have tried to print, software schedules a job and 'believes' that the job is completed but nothing happens at the printer end. I suspect a communication issue (USB connection) and cannot figure out how to solve this or whatever other problems may exist. I should be able to send any additional info needed - please ask and I will do what I can to include needed info in this post.

Any help will be greatly appreciated crajor
