Linksys EAS3500 USB NAS Configuration

Problem: This is a router/gateway that has an additional IP address for the USB media port. I can ping the gateway, but cannnot ping the media IP on the router used for the drive. I've added both IP's in UFW firewall rules, including the specified ports. Strangely, whether I attempt to use port 21,22, ftp, or sftp(and allowing all associated stock ports), there's no communication. The ping times out. A drive mount point was created on the localhost, and linked to the usb drive on the gateway--connection timeout.
Context: I'm a Linux+ student in progress; and, this issue is one of my weak points(driven to pun). I haven't found a clear, concise setup method on the web; but, the best I've come across is attached below as a contextual frame-of-reference.
