2 Debians, same font looks different

I have Debian 9 and 12. I am slowly trying to make 12 look like 9. It's very hard. Diferent themes, for example. It's a struggle.
Now I've run into a font inconsistency. I run the terminal application (stjerm) with the exact same command line which specifies Monospace 14, but the font looks different. Why does that happen? Could the two distros be reading from different "Monospace" named fonts?
