Mathematica has gone from $350/yr (a while back) to $950 a year (per new version released anually). their is a system of forced upgrades where old version doesn't work on new linux "lib version issues". Up from last year was $650/yr. that's per cpu/user.

Windows 95 versus Win10 - expensive and site license $20,000. Redhat $400/yr just to begin (way more with upgrades) up from $100 "for everything". Suse i don't even want to ask - since they are QT and ubuntu with china and control android. the QT commercial license they don't even post online $$$$$$$.

And that's before even entertaining access to Adobe, streamcasting software to cast globally on Google streams, anything good really. "not secure" when obtained also.

All of these companies have removed privacy of intellectual property (IP): they can take your "code" right off your desktop and claim your usage agreement allows them to do so; that's inflation to count.

Comments? Do PC Hobbyists need to be millionheirs with "no right to IP" to have a PC hobby? Add up the above over 20yr it's over $1M. How does this compare to the last generation please?
