Problem setting up HP Smart Tank 5100 printer

I am running 15.0. I do not know if this is Slackware related or not. I have beem able to set up a wireless connection for this printer but I would preferto use USB. The printer is recognized by Cups but test page remains pending. Is anybody here using this printer and if so have they compiles and installed the hplip plugin available at slackbuilds?
